Steering Gear Remanufacturing Service – Important Information
By purchasing a steering gear remanufacturing service in our e-commerce store, you are ordering a service that is performed on a component that belongs to you.
Throughout the entire process, the steering gear remains your property.
UAB Vairoma undertakes to:
-
remanufacture the steering gear for the price indicated in the e-shop, or
-
if remanufacturing is not possible, return the component to the customer without charging an inspection fee.
How to Prepare the Steering Gear for Shipping
Proper packaging is essential. Improperly packaged components may be damaged during transport.
1. Preparation Before Packaging
-
Remove the tie rods and tie rod ends.
Only the steering gear itself must be sent, without any additional components. -
Remove all easily detachable parts:
-
brackets,
-
bolts,
-
rubber elements,
-
holders,
-
and any other parts that may detach during unpacking.
-
-
Make sure no parts of the steering shaft / input shaft or other attachments remain installed.
2. Packaging (Especially Important)
-
Wrap the steering gear very thoroughly with bubble wrap.
If the steering gear is hydraulic:
-
Pay special attention to areas where oil may leak:
-
sealing areas must be protected to prevent oil leakage and contamination of the packaging.
-
If the steering gear is electric:
-
Carefully protect:
-
plastic components,
-
connectors,
-
plugs,
-
covers.
-
-
Wiring and plastic connectors must be secured and cushioned, as they can break during transport.
3. Box and Cushioning – We Recommend:
-
Packaging the steering gear in a sturdy box, or
-
Wrapping it very securely with thick cardboard.
-
Internal cushioning is mandatory to prevent movement during transport.
4. Photos – Strongly Recommended
-
Before packaging, take photos of the steering gear from both sides.
This helps to:
-
avoid misunderstandings,
-
provide evidence in case of transport-related issues.
How the Service Process Works
-
The customer purchases the remanufacturing service in the e-shop.
-
A courier collects the steering gear from the specified address.
-
UAB Vairoma performs an inspection of the component.
-
Two outcomes are possible:
-
Remanufacturing is possible → the steering gear is remanufactured and safely packaged and returned to the customer.
-
Remanufacturing is not possible → the component is returned to the customer without an inspection fee.
-
If you have any doubts regarding packaging or part removal, we recommend contacting us before shipping.
Proper preparation ensures a safe, efficient, and smooth remanufacturing process.
When Steering Gear Remanufacturing May Be Impossible
Although most steering gears can be successfully remanufactured, in some cases the service cannot be performed or cannot be performed at the standard e-shop price.
1. Housing Defects
Remanufacturing may be impossible if the following housing defects are present:
-
chips,
-
cracks,
-
deformations,
-
other mechanical housing damage.
If such damage is clearly visible, the component is likely unsuitable for remanufacturing.
Important:
If the customer accepts that such external defects remain after remanufacturing, we recommend:
-
clearly marking these areas (circling, labeling, photographing them before packaging),
-
informing us together with the shipment.
In such cases, UAB Vairoma will:
-
assess the possibility of remanufacturing the component without eliminating the housing defects,
-
contact the customer by phone to confirm whether this solution is acceptable.
2. Water and Corrosion Inside the Steering Gear
If water is leaking from the steering gear or the following are observed:
-
rust,
-
a water–oil mixture,
-
signs of severe internal corrosion,
then:
-
the likelihood that remanufacturing will be impossible increases significantly, or
-
additional parts may be required and the repair will no longer be standard.
In such cases, the customer may send the steering gear for inspection, but must be aware that:
-
the e-shop price may not apply,
-
the final decision on repair feasibility and pricing will be made only after physical inspection,
-
the customer will be informed and may decide whether to proceed with the repair or have the component returned.
